Intentions and Motives
Creating
This story could be over with the title, right? Two words that carry such heavy weight yet seem to move as though they were light and undefined.
Sorry for the hefty introduction, but sometimes careful consideration of common terms can help me isolate the questions I often need to ask myself.
Does this resonate with you?
I do what I do, but do I have intentionality and pure directed motives? Is there a clear goal or unwavering way about me? Am I being tested and pressed for better? Will I allow the lesson from the testing and pressing? I don’t know about you, but for me, I am continually needing to ask myself these types of questions in order to check my grounding…and growth.
My artwork (I hope) is a reflection of my character. The balance of growing yet holding onto authenticity is a daily work in progress. Everything vies for authenticity. Many coin the term. Some never go deep enough to find it. To all it is easily lost yet always available. The retention of authenticity is something I must think about, speak of and then take the actions to maintain. Intentionality of daily habits, the way I think, the way I praise my Creator, the thoughts I let stick in my focus and the words and attitudes I spread all factor into my level of authentic living. It’s not a banner or a title, it’s the depth I’m living at.
Can I paint the beautiful story before me if I won’t go deep enough or be humble enough to receive it? Painting for me is an outward expression of what I see and experience. It is the way I share the story with you. I want to encourage others to enjoy the peace from the deep and step out with intention to a uniquely customed life that’s waiting for each and every one of us.
But how to take the step?...
We all have unique gifts and purposes (even when we haven’t figured them out yet). And there is joy in the development and usage of those gifts. I urge you not to be discouraged or to become distracted from exploring the gifts and purposes you are meant to grow and use. Pray, read, ask yourself basic questions of what brings you joy, listen to music, fix something that is broken, cook, or even ask for insight from someone you trust who has intimate knowledge about you, and then be willing to let the possibilities enter your mind of what you can try and do. I urge you to enjoy the challenge and to find blessing where you never imagined you could.
May the distractions in life not get a foothold in your future and may the deep longing for better propel you to step and move with your Creator God.
Sincerely,
Laura Nutting
