My Experience Painting
Fine Art, Painting
My inspiration comes from other art forms; music, books, nature, prayer, and the feel of places I’ve journeyed to. With detail I continue multiple tiny marks with an aim for accuracy. In all this, standing in awe of my Creator’s attention to detail to a degree beyond what I can comprehend! In these sacred moments, I find myself truly humbled.
Form, color, transparency, reflection, intersecting planes, distance, temperature, mood, and line, are all displayed in God’s creation. And yet, He cares enough about human participation in creating that He made available to us all the resources we need to express our experience! All the while blessing others, while honoring Him. What a gift we have been given in this beauty called art.

There are many examples of these resources, from ancient to modern.
Ancient art tools: These range from hair and sticks to form brushes, as well as pigments from the earth combined with oil from plants for paint. Canvases were woven from fabric and wool.
Modern art tools: Surface sealants, mediums, varnishes, digital images, and websites.
Together these culminate all school taught subjects.
When I paint, I am embracing the ancient and the modern, working for the future beauty while fully engaging my mind and heart.
I desire for people who view my art to be inspired. Whether to sit in peace with their Maker, or bravely embark on a dream bigger than themselves. All for the honor of the One who gives all things.
The value of a moment…
One of my earliest memories is painting with an old ratty brush. Oh, the value of an old ratty brush. The value of giving someone a chance. The value of taking a chance. The value of honor and following through. The value of failing then trying again. The value of completion!
If you wish to check out my current original oil paintings in person, or purchase any of them, they will be on display at the Keystone Gallery for the summer season starting in July.
